Modernizing the Transfer Invoice Matching System
I helped preserve established keyboard workflows as a shipment-payment application moved from a green screen to a modern interface.
Project Details
- My Contribution
- I pushed to preserve tab sequence, field order, and text-based interaction, and explored a familiar optional view for experienced users.
- Evidence
- Modernized interface · Preserved field order and keyboard workflow
Context
The Transfer Invoice Matching System supported how shipments were paid for. The modernized application retained the informational inputs of the green-screen system. Many users had five, ten, or twenty years of experience; onboarding could take approximately six months to a year before independent work, based on my recollection.
What I Contributed
I helped preserve the tab sequence, field order, and text-based workflow in the modernized application. We also tested a toggleable familiar view as a temporary transition aid.
What Testing Changed
Approximately ten participants across in-store and supply-chain roles tested invoice creation, editing, and deletion. Participants appreciated the familiar view, but testing did not show enough additional task-success benefit to proceed. The modern application retained the established keyboard workflow.
